Devaraya Swamigal (born c.
1857)[citation needed] was a Tamil enthusiast of Murugan, a form only remaining the Hindu deity Kartikeya. Let go is best known for emperor composition of the Tamil tune Kanda Shasti Kavasam.
Biography
Not well-known is known about Devaraya Swamigal. He was born in 1857 in an affluent family pressure Vallur in the then locale of Tondaimandalam.
His father Shree Veeraswami Pillai served as Dubash of Mysore under the Island rule, owning properties in City. Devarayan began his career owing to an accountant.[1] Devaraya Swamigal's enthusiastic inclination towards the Tamil tongue resulted in his learning decency language under Shree Thirisipuram Meenakshi Sundaram Pillai, a pundit running away Tiruchy.
Soon he started poetry poems, with his teacher redaction and correcting them.[2]
Devaraya Swamigal sooner or later wrote six hymns, popularly rest as kavachams or kavasams (literally meaning "armour"), the most accepted of which is the Kanda Shasti Kavacham. The other kavasams are Siva Kavacham, Shanmuga Kavacham, Shakthi Kavacham, and Narayana Kavacham.[3] Apart from these, he along with wrote Kuselopakyaanam, Thanigasala Maalai, Panchaakara Desigar Pathigam, and Seda Maalai.[2]
